FIREBIRD RACEWAY- BOISE

            28th ANNUAL OLDIES BUT GOODIES

                                      June 7th and 8th, 2008

To all members and those who should be,

The New family and their professional team again put on a superior event that was on time and well received by racers and fans alike. The weather was perfect, cool and breezy. The Association put forth their best by producing some great side by side racing and in the process set track records for speed and ET. This all happened when Rich Roberts made a spectacular pass, how about a 6.79 at 205.10. Spectacular to say the least.

Rich took low ET and John Peterson had top speed at 205.80.

In the end it was Steve Woods and Rich in the finals with Steve taking the checkered flag with a nice 6.82. Congratulations to all the participants.

As you all know the field was weak because of the back to back with Bakersfield. The four who were able to make it put on quite a show, all the teams had problems but all four cars made every round. The racers and the track decided to run a Chicago style event where in the 1st  round of qualifying number 1 would race number 4 and in the second round, number 1 would race number 3. The finals would be decided by running the two lowest ET’s.

ROUND #1 QUALIFYING

Cecil Matthews- 7.28 at 192.55

Thanks to all the participants and to the Firebird team for putting on a special event Hope scheduling, fuel costs and increased purse will allow us to present a full field next year.
